These are the two civilisations I will be studying/researching. Egypt and Babylon are what I am studying about. Here is a little introduction to both, and I hope you like my wiki!
This is the head of the famous tomb of the king Tutankhamen.
Egypt
Egypt, or the Egyptians, is one of the ancient civilisations I will be learning about. It existed from about 3100 BC to 100 BC, and during this time a lot of other civilisations have risen and fallen. Ancient Egypt is one of the first powerful and long-lasting civilisations. The main dynasties that Ancient Egypt lived through are:
Early Dynasty
Old Kingdom
1st Intermediate Period
Middle Kingdom
2nd Intermediate Period
New Kingdom
3rd Intermediate Period
Late Period
Ptolemaic
The Egyptians have become famous for different things, such as being the first civilisation, the pyramids they built, their pharaohs, their architecture, etc.
Everyone in the class is studying this civilisation, and we have all chosen another one. Even if we had to choose both civilisations, this would have been one of my choices nevertheless.
Babylon
The legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Babylon is the other civilisation I have chosen to study. The name itself means "the gate of god". It existed from about 1900 BC to 600 BC. People believe the fall of Babylon was in the year 539 BC. It lasted a long time, about 1300 years, which is quite a long time period. It is located in Mesopotamia, between Europe, Asia and Africa. I chose to do this civilisation because whenever I hear the name Babylon (or Babylonia), I always think straight away about the "Hanging Gardens of Babylon". I have always found it so amazing that such a long time ago people have built that.
The dynasties of their time are:
Amorite Rule
Kassite Rule
As well as the Egyptians, Babylonia has also become famous for things they have done. Some of them are: the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (known as one of the seven world wonders), their religion, their astronomy, architecture, literature, laws, administration, beauty and Biblical proportions.
